Description
The inspiration for this painting came from H.P Lovecraft concept of gaining knowledge outside of the mundane. If you look close enough on the little lady's head, you will see a small owl. In Greek myth, owl accompanies the Goddess of wisdom Athena. In many cultures especially in Japan, the fox represents intelligence and wit. While the butterflies are symbolic of transformation/metamorphosis/evolution.
Archival Materials: Artist grade Watercolor Paints, Gold watercolor paint, 100% cotton paper

if you use tick paper, like 200gram or something you can make many, many layers. i suggest you try to over use layers and see its limits, go further than you usually go and dont be scared to ruin your work. If you ruin it you will make it better next time since you will know limits and thats wrong since you already made a mistake. I believe that making mistakes is not good but excellent for artists because you can learn so much from it and sometimes mistake can even show you what you can do different and even better. For someone who is starting with not much experiance or art classes i would say most important thing is to not be scared of paper and mistakes, once you are free of those things you can paint more freely and achieve more, i see many developed artists struggling with that fear and its keeping them from achieving more.
And f course practice and practice and than some more
If there is any way i can help you more tell me, ask me.

The paper I'm using is 300 grm Archival 100% cotton so it took a large amount of beating from me lol. I took your advice and the final piece actually came out really well, it looks more realistic. Again thank you, you have been so helpful. You took the time to write soo much information.
You have my word I won't be afraid to go absolutely crazy with paint on paper lol. Would you like to see the final more polished piece?
EDIT: I took your advice in adding browns and yellows to the crass and articulated the "pink thingies" into flowers. You are soo right that it needs to be well formed. Additionally The mountains in the background had more layers of green and yellows to suggest depth. Again thank you, your critique and comments have been really helpful.

rule is: if something is far away(like mountains) they get more and more bluish/gray because of the atmosphere. So you can add some brown and/or blue in green for far away parts.
I am truly glad if i helped you, i dont wanna go on sounding like ignorant ass or something telling you what to do or something. I really wanna help you if i can in any way when it comes to art. I have over 8 years or art education behind me, and that all in traditional painting like oils, chalk, water colors.. any mediums, since i used most of them during those years of learning. If you dont mind my criticism and advices i would love to give some of my knowledge
Your painting skills dont look like someone who just started, i must say. You are not deforming body and faces, you have a pretty nice start. I would like to see update on what you did

Thank you thank you. I'm glad you like it. The brown blades of grass around the book and the book itself is actually gold paint so if it gets hit by light it shimmers like the scales of a goldfish.
