Description
This has to be my favorite bird photo, I wasn't able to really catch the brilliant red on his throat, but the detail isn't too bad. It is amazing how delicate these little guys are.Related content

It is kind of funny he justs sits at attention scanning the yard. The tree is just outside the bedroom window so he is easy to watch.

This was a rescue of sorts,I was letting him rest and gave him a little nectar to get his strength up before he flew off. Since this picture he sits outside the window on a hibiscus and defends my back porch from intruders for most of the day. I guess we are buds now LOL.

I have held 3 of them, 2 woodpecker, and a cardinal. I have 2 parrots I hold all the time but the wild birds are a special treat.

so lucky!
I too had a parrot for many years, but unfortunately I had to give her away to a nice middle-aged lady when I went away to college. I still get to visit her occasionally, though...

Thanks for sharing your awesome experience with birds. You are blessed to be able to get this close to such a fast bird.

The humming birds a really the easiest to hold, try sitting out in the yard with some sugar water in a bright colored bowl. It takes patience but they will come to you. Chickadees will also land on you for food.

I put vodka in the bird feeder ..... NOT REALLY!!! The humming birds get caught in the garage and can't figure out how to get out, I let them fly around for a minute then calmly move towards them with my hand out... they will land on you when the are a little tired out. You don't want to chase them ...they stress out really quick and could die.
