Description
The final product.Done in mixed media, as the list of materials used below can attest. Some things I love, some things not so much. The infinitely dissatisfied craftsman is me.
I had to go over in ink the border again after colouring and the result was not what I wanted since I have little control with my hands. The ink also conspired against me. I do think that Crysthel (the white dragon in the middle) is my favourite part, I like how she came out. She even beats out the background, which I think is a bit too bright (I never want to see foliage again). The green underpainting was an interesting experiment...although I don't know if it made any difference or if I just can't see it.
Made for a birthday present (four months late) to a talented young comicker who's webcomic can be found here . What she will get will look slightly different than what is here.

Either that or I'm insane. It's like I can't make something simple. Sometimes I really wonder about myself. XD

Oh.
My.
Lord.
The details are spectacular! How did you find the patience to do this? I would have given up at just coloring the bushes and leafs(leaves?)!!
Amazing job, you and this piece are epic.

Details. They are pretty addicting. When you start, you just can't stop! Er, it also helps if you're rather compulsive as well.
Thank you very much for the kind comment.

Do I see a food chain there? It took me a while to work out the symbolism, because I started at the top and went downwards.
It's amazingly cool, I love the styalised complexity of it. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it might have something to do with the Neverending Story (the copy I have has a surprisingly similar format in it's cover illus.) The colours seem very carefully chosen, it's just lovely.

It's actually supposed to be a tree of life modelled one the Great Chain of Being, which is referred to in the comic. The Tree of Life is a pretty traditional celtic knotwork style. But I did use a sort of "evolutionary hierarchy" in my choices, despite that such a thing does not actually exist in the theory.
Wow, I love the Neverending story, but it never occurred to me that it would look like that, although thinking on my copy, maybe it does. XD THanks very much for the comment and compliment.

Thanks, yeah I was told that it looked like a story book cover by someone else too. Although I didn't intend it to, I'm glad you think so.

I just chugged my first beer ever. Because of my unbelievably low body weight and fat content I'm feeling lightheaded, but this picture sent me to a whole new level of fuzzy and weightless. THANK YOU, LENNAN!!!

Chugged your first beer? I can barely sip beer because of the taste. XD Well, first time drinking does kind of knock you off your feet, especially if you're low body weight and fat, it also doesn't help if it's in your genes to be weak. >_> I'm pretty good at getting sleepy drunk off one drink.
But I'm glad you like it, it makes me so happy! You're very welcome!
