Description Alright. I think it's about time that I create something useful.

A lot of people have contacted me with notes, comments, etc. asking if I had a tutorial or if I could teach them.
So, here's a tutorial.

That is what I do when making an emote...step by step.
I use Adobe Photoshop, but you could probably do this in more graphical design applications.
It probably only takes 2-3 minutes for me...but the tutorial took a couple hours to put together.

Hopefully you guys will get some use out of this.
Stay tuned for Part 2: Simple Animation.

If you use it, please note me the link to your deviation. I'd love to see what you make with this.

i dont do the shading on mine like that..i hink my way of shading is very different from everyone elses...

and Tom's right Matt...there is a colour overlaying the black...to get rid of this just remove the anti aliasing from the gradient fill

That's amazing. Thank you so much, you already go through a lot to make the emotes and to make a tutorial so we can take a shot at it too is great!

Nice work Matt.

One thing, when you do the shading, have you noticed the slight extra colour overlapping the black?

And another, I had one in the making!

mattdanna In reply to budgieishere [2004-11-25 17:25:03 +0000 UTC]

Yea I do notice that, but usually it doesn't bother me nor should it bother people just looking to start emotes.
It's easily fixable--you can just put the black outline over the gradient or just use the eraser tool.

Thanks for the comment dude.
