Do you know what kind of khimaar a Pakistani woman would wear?

a dupatta/dupata
Its really common although sometimes Pakistani women don't cover their heads with it...then again some wear a Chador

Oh yeah Chador covers all of the head and are usually black
and Duppattas/Dupattas/Dupatas
don't really cover the hair properly..(it depends on how long and wide it is)

Hmmm...
I was asking because I have a character I'm designing who is an American Muslim of Pakistani decent. She wouldn't wear a Chador, but she would want to cover her hair. She'd probably do the Duppatta style while being careful to cover her hair entirely.

ohhhh [link]
this is how almost EVERYONE wears the dupatta...
but then again if its to long and wide its more like a Shadi Dupatta which is for a bride O_O

I didnt know dress attire was so limited there for women. But i does show that they are not subjective to men like most americans. We should sometimes follow by Islam example.

May I ask? Some people place their hijabs until the chin, this is because it is said you must cover everything except your hands and face.
So referring to the bottom side of the hijab, under the chin, would it be wrong if we do not cover it?
I'm sorry if this sounds confusing.

I think such questions should be asked to an Imam or a Muslim scholar.

So non-believers aren't allowed to wear hijabis, but what about converts? When are converts allowed to wear them? Is it just up to personal discrepancy?

YellowPixel In reply to kittyrevolution [2011-12-23 16:42:08 +0000 UTC]
Converts are Muslims as much as any other Muslim so all commandments apply to us too No difference between a Convert and someone who was raised Muslim.

Nayzak In reply to kittyrevolution [2011-12-19 21:23:34 +0000 UTC]
I never said "So non-believers aren't allowed to wear hijab". I simply said that "the Hijab should not look like the clothes of non-believers". which means, Muslim women should not wear clothes that make them look like non-Muslim women. they should wear clothes that make them recognized as Muslims.
I hope that's clear now.

About a suggestion for making things better, I'm not sure. Perhaps you could write something to go along with it, although personally I think this is very self-explanatory.
or if you do another tutorial insha'Allah, maybe you could do it on how to do it using reference (as in which lines to decide to draw, and which not to so as not to make teh pic overwhelming if that makes sense?). or perhaps tasteful tips on which hijabs suit what personality, or where they're from....?
I know that's a lot of points, but they're really unneccessary. As I said, I think this tutorial is very clear and explains itself. I guess the above points were if someone were to be very picky

salam.
I read "what is hijab" and i disagree whith number 4. there is no where in Qoraan mentioned that it is forbidden or even bad for a woman to were mens clothes.
and please explain more about number 5. as you see almost all types of muslim women clothings not only resemble whith nonbelievers but also are the same! for example jeans. please explain it more.
and tanx for tutorial. they are usefull.

Well, there are many ahadith where the prophet -peace be upon him- cursed men who made themselves look like women and women who made themselves look like men. this, because they are perverting themselves by imitating the opposite sex.
there are things that are not mentioned in the holy Qur'an, but prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- taught them.
and please explain more about number 5. as you see almost all types of muslim women clothings not only resemble whith nonbelievers but also are the same!
Well. there are many kinds of Islamic clothes that are different from non-believers clothes (men fashion and women fashion).
the tip here is that if by wearing a certain kind of clothes, the Muslim would look like a non-Muslim, then they should avoid it. wearing jeans is not gonna make you look like a non-Muslim. it's an international fashion. but if the jeans is tight, then it breaks other rules of the Hijab. if it's wide enough, then it's fine I guess.
and Allah knows best.
