Update: Now I have a video tutorial!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's how I make my squiggle animations using Gimp 2.6!
Gimp is free to download, you can download version 2.8 here: www.gimp.org/downloads/
I'm using an older Gimp though, so the layout or buttons may differ some. (I don't like updating much!)
I can't believe this took me hours to make, I really hope it's helpful! Sorry I don't have more time to make it pretty, but at least it's neat and organized. I did my best to explain it from a beginner's viewpoint, but you may still need to study Gimp a little.
This is also how I make my animated icons, it's a very simple process, just do a little experimenting and you'll get the hang of it.

yeah but you need to use key frames like a time animation instead of stacking up layers and making it a gif

its kind of like a marker for animation. when you make changes from one key frame to another they make it into animation and depending how far apart they are that quick the change will show.
well im sure you can google it for more info and ways to use them

I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun, they don't make this specific kind any more, but you can get a used one on ebay. But any tablet by Wacom should be fine, they're number one with artist tablets.^^ Mine is actually one of the cheapest and weakest Wacom tablets, and I've had it for about 4 years now.
