Description Something I started last year. I don't feel like I can really call this "finished" since there are so many things that bother me about it, but I can't be bothered spending any more time on it for now.

And the scan made it look even worse. Blah.

It's been a while since I've seen your work on my watchlist.

I like the way you used symbolism in this pic... that is if you'd call it that, it comes in pretty clearly. That and (wether the scanner ruined it or not) the colors look great. Very nicely done.

Yeah, I don't upload art very regularly, but I'm trying to get back into art again. And I'm glad you like the picture.

I like the swirlies and all of those other veiny bio-mech bits. Really good texture in this

I'm not sure if I actually do. I often have plans to sit and work on things until they're completed, but it can take me over a year to finally finish things, since I never have the patience to work on anything for more than a couple of hours at once.
But I'm glad you like it

ahh I see Its funny how differently artists work. If I don't get something finished in one sitting, I usually will end up hating it and not finishing it at all. hence why most of my work isn't very detailed although I'd like it to be sometimes!

Dudymas In reply to ??? [2006-06-18 01:48:19 +0000 UTC]

You know... it might be good to post works in progress as sort of a way to get yourself more motivated to do more work... I dunno... I myself confess it's impossibly hard to post sketches sometimes... it makes me feel like I'm going to ruin a surprise or something... but I look at these productive people, and many of them just post drafts all over the place and whatever else. But ah... productivity isn't that important. I just know that even hinting to someone about what I'm specifically working on can really motivate me to get it done... cuz I just feel like I gave them my word or something.

But I digress... this is a really nice. I see in another set of comments that you don't like the shading. For me at least, I think you really do a great job on linework. I really think that it's easier to either do great shading work, or to do great linework. Doing both in a pain in the arse. For what you've do so far on this, it's already more than finished in the viewers eyes. I think if you just wanted to communicate something, you're done here. What else were you hoping to do by working even more on it? Of course... that's a question to ask yourself. I have no need to pry and would probably do best to rather not know that... but I certainly hope that you at least know.

Heck... I sound like I'm lecturing more than commenting. sorry for that. This just is a really powerful punch to the eye socket... I really envy you of that. Have a lot of fun, mmkay?

I hope you'll get to post more sometime, but even one of these could last a person quite a while. Thanks a lot for sharing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zarathus In reply to Dudymas [2006-06-22 11:45:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that possibly would help, since I've always found other peoples' comments to help with motivation. But at the same time, I sorta don't feel good with posting unfinished work publically, because it's never anything to be proud of. I see your point, though. I sometimes show people my incomplete stuff over messengers, which often results in me at least trying to complete them.

I know what you mean about either shading, or having decent linework. I usually have to stick to one or the other, because of the difficulty in getting both to look okay, and a lot of the time I purposely seperate the two. I'm typically not fond of detailed (inked) lineart being colored, for some reason. Perhaps it's just that I like one or the other to show the form, and detail of whatever is being depicted.

And thanks very much for the comment. I'm glad you like it, and it's always good to get more thought-provoking comments, too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dudymas In reply to zarathus [2006-06-24 22:12:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, I don't mind commenting a ton. I tend to overanalyze, actually (and sorry for all those typos in my last comment. Must've been sleepy). If you want another person to look at stuff over a messenger or email, I'm more than willing, because I do the same to my own victims... both music and graphics in my case. My gmail name is dudymas and my aim name is the same. Same for MSN... though I tend to turn off msn when I do music since I need all the resources I can get.

But it's up to you if you want to... I just want you to have a lot of fun with your time.

Cheers, and doubly thanks for sharing your work. It gives me countless ideas and inspires me as well. Motivation is such a priceless thing

zarathus In reply to Dudymas [2006-06-27 11:58:45 +0000 UTC]

*nods* All righty. Yes, I am prone to overanalyzing things as well, often to other peoples' irritation But... I guess I enjoy it when I get thoughtful comments on art I've done, and in some cases, rants of mine.

I'm really glad my art is able to inspire you, though. It's seldom the case, but it's something I'm always happy to achieve with my stuff.
